If it was on the plane it wouldn't have survived being fumigated since the whole point would have been to kill the hamster so that it couldn't cause any damage that might make the plane unsafe, and sadly I doubt it would have escaped. Makes me sad to think of the poor little ham though If I was an airline boss I'd tell all the passengers their flight was cancelled and pop a few humane traps in there!

my best friend is a pilote with lufthansa and he got a similar story told by one of his supervisors. they said that there was a man on a lufthansa plane and he actually had his rat sitting on his shoulders...of course once the plane was in the air. as you can imagine some people dont like rats and started complaining. but with a rat on the shoulder in full sight the stewardess/stewards would have found out anyway i dont know exactly what happened during the flight...i guess he had to lock it in a carrier or box...once they arrived at the airport he had a pay a huge fine...but nothing was done to the rat
