Gorgeous! Such a lovely looking chap
. I love the second picture, where he looks so relaxed, like he is melting into your hand!
I always assumed hamster tails were vestigal (something that closely related species have, or a species had in it's evolutionary past, but aren't really necessary.. liiiike how we have that funny bone at the base of our back, that supposedly was a tail in our evolutionary past, and how many species have a "five fingered hand" appendage - like bat wings, the five bony "fingers" in a penguins wing.. a shocking amount do, actually). So I always assumed it's a relic from their evolutionary past.
I can't imagine what purpose such a mini tail would serve to the hamsters we know today, I'd be intersted to know now! *grumbles* I don't have an evolution or rodent text book at home!
And yes, it is mega cute when they sit like that having a wash
. So adorable. Chewy always looks like a right fatty porker, as his fur makes him appear to have hammy man-boobs when he sits like that!
