Be careful when you get to GSCES, you will have to cut down on new addtions
I'm possibly aloud one more hamster now and thats it for a long time!
I wish you the best with getting rats, but please research and ask experienced rat owners for advice on keeping them, as they are very different to hamsters and they require A LOT more time and effort.
maybe visit a rat show near you? I learnt a lot when i went to one

Ok, my head is severely clouded and lurgy so if i have mistakes in spelling forgive me- dying for the past week lol

you must keep rats in 2 or more

i would avoid getting a rescue as your first- as i have found there can be lots of problems and although i am getting on ok it has not been the best experience and i have had to dedicate at least 2-3 hours with them each night to see any small progress

i would perhaps avoid that rattery. They are not NFRS registered and have only had a few litters so their lines may not be that great yet. I would go to your local rat club (eg. midlands rat club, yorkshire rat club etc) and get them to put you in touch with a registered breeder.

Rats are expensive! They eat more, are prone to waaaay more illnesses and need lots more stimulation than a hamster.

Also..their bites hurt ALOT more than a hammy and if you get a rescue you are likey to recieve more of these!

Personally id hold off the ratties until after GCSE.

However, yes thy make amazing pets but please please take my advice.i have had to do ALOT of research since getting my boys and can tell you first hand the problems you can face.

I would avoid a wheel as they can have the same issues as robos etc in terms of bullying and if you have your rats out they should be getting all their excercise that way.

ps.id recommend keeping rats and hammies totally away from each other. mine are in sep rooms and never come into contact smells etc with each other

Their not for me - their for my sister. btw she is 9. nearly 10.
i thought maybe a winter white maybe better...
But she has her heart set on rats. unfortunately at this time of year, she's having the grammar school test... i think next year, september. Meaning in yr 7 there'll be homework overload -.-
So i think hold it off - untill after the test But even though shes only 10 shes had loads of expereince with animals - chickens, rabbits, guineapigs, hamsters lol, dogs, cats - so i think she'll be fine
Thanks
ps there is now a vet box where me and elsa put our change for vet fees

Ahh okay
because i think they can have like proper floortime without me worrying because their alot bigger than hamsters. If we get rats they'll probs go in our room the other side of the house than the hamsters
i'm nervous though because me nd elsa picked out very cute pictures of dumbo rats for my mum, so i dont know how she'll think of real ones lol. never seen them in real life :L but rats are cute - gerbils and mice are so i think dumbos should be

Do you NEVER take any advice you are given?

I have given you some really decent advice from my first hand experiences and you just glossed over it!

Is great your sis wants to have dumbos, thats fine, but even moreso as a child a rescue rat would probably come with more issues than she could deal with- as i said- i have had to sit with my dumbos until 5am some days!

I also answered your question about the wheel yet again you have not addressed it. Why ask a question and when you get advice just ignore it?

The vet box is great however like i said, rats cost lots more. As most have come from lab rats they were bred to have illnesses such as respiritory infections, tumours etc also castration can be on the table with rats that can become agressive.

I am not saying for your sis not to get rats, there were some 10 yr olds at the midland rat show i went to and their relationship was great just get one from a registered breeder and do your research from the NFRS websites.

This is a good website-
