Question Can hamsters eat cucumber?

I am going away for 3 days and although my neighbour is calling in to check on all my animals my OH thought it would be a good idea to give the hammies some cucumber for extra water intake. Has anyone ever given their hammies cucumber? I normally only ever give them dried food as they can get diarrhoea if they have too many greens cant they?

Thanks for that I didn't want to risk giving it to them if it could make them poorly. I bet they will want it all the time now after only ever having dried food

Yup its fine I would just try a tiny peice to begin with, as to not upset his tummy, and make sure that it doesnt get left in the cage as it will rot and get smelly!

i wouldnt leave fresh fruit and veg in the cage for a long time as it will go off and they may get bad tummy

when i give fresh to mine i leave it over night then take the leftovers out the next day.

i would suggest to put another bottle of water instead of putting veg in

He could eat some cucumber buuut dont leave it in the cage for three days, it will go all yuck and stuff. So i think if you leave the normal water bottle with enough water he will be fine? It wont be that fresh but he will survive and wont get food poisoning from bad cucumber
