Stink bugs!!! Harmful?
So anybody on the east coast of the US can probably sympathize with me when I talk about stink bugs. They are so so sooo gross, and they're everywhere this year! For some reason, I am absolutely terrified of them.
We've been getting them in our apartment, and for some reason, they like my boyfriend's room the most. Unfortunately, this is where we keep the hammies, as it is the smallest room and thus the cheapest to cool. Usually he just kills them, but he's out of town for the week, and I just can't get near them. Do you think they could cause any harm to the hams, if I didn't go in and kill them? They're not poisonous, they just smell bad when you squash them.
(And for the record, I have no idea why they scare me so much. I can handle snakes, tarantulas, frogs, whatever. But for some reason, stink bugs just freak me out!!!)

Yeah they REEK! Which is why they're so difficult to get rid of. Squash one and the apartment smells for ages.
I would really appreciate some help with this, guys!

Hhmmm, I don't know weather they can harm the hams, but you could buy some mosquito netting, and put it over their cages?

That's a really good idea! I think I've got some mosquito netting from when I went to Honduras, I'll hang it from the fan they're under! The bugs haven't seemed to show any interest in the hamsters, cause they seem to like the windows and the light. I'm just afraid that if they fly into the cage and the hamsters mess with them, they'll let out their gross stink, and I dunno if the chemicals are harmful.

We don't want to move the hamsters because we only have two rooms that we can cool down, and the other one we sleep in! We could move them elsewhere in the apartment, but there aren't window unit air conditioners, so they would probably be too warm. Unfortunately, the window units are how they get in!

I don't think they can harm your hamster, but if your so worried about them get in some kind of painting suit and go save your hamsters and keep them in your room. I agree Stink bugs Stink.

Unfortunately they find their way into the apartment no matter what. Moving them to my room wouldn't have made a difference. We find them in every room, they just love my boyfriends room the most. Since they go in through the window units, any room where we kept the hamsters would have stink bugs, since we leave on the window A/C so the hams don't get overheated. Fortunately it's gotten colder and we've taken out the window A/C units, so they've stopped coming in so much.
