Candace, now that you mention it, it WAS just like harry potter movies heheh! Yes carefresh, it was a great school for allowing pets but then a lot of the girls there were full term boarders so it was nice for them to have their pets there. Day boarders were also allowed to have pets. It was a nice large room, constant temperature, & quiet.

I love those Harry potter movies and books as they really do remind me of the life at that school. Its quite amazing now to think of the things we were allowed to do but then it was a cool school too. I think the hamsters used to enjoy their trip to the desk for the afternoon! They would rumage around, and sleep in their "other" bed.SI'd just have him in my pocket or on my lap where he would just sleep. This was Whiskey, he was amazing. its probably not something I'd do now, knowing the ways of hamsters but as kids we didn't always do what was best. But, whiskey was one of my longest living hamsters, just over 3 years old. I think he had a good, if not interesting life!

Funny, and to think of all the trips back and forth with him. I'd bring him home on the weekends LOL! Then back to school during the week... honesly... I'm amazed he lived as long as he did! But he was great... !

Whiskey! (You were the best!)

Well, we don't have "grades" in England, but "forms". (at least when I was at school). Also the schools in England do have different systems to what they have over here in the US. That particular school I was at took ages from 9-16yrs. (many go from 11-16)

I was 10-12yrs when I had Whiskey. I'm 35 now, it was 25 years ago! However, the school no longer exists but only closed down a couple of years ago.

I still get confused as to what ages go with what grades over here! I've lived in US for 10 yrs

Default Boarding school

Sounds like my school, although in Upper Forth onwards we were allowed hamsters or fish in our rooms before that they lived in a common room/annexe - I too was a boarder in a girl's only convent school from 8 to 18, and before that a day pupil at another girl's private kindergarden nearer my parent's estate. I got my first hamster all of my own at 4 from my hippy aunt - it had been rescued from a research facility, my brother got a rat which sadly died of cancer not long after. I had loads of animals at home on the farm up to 8 years old when I went to big school. Even when I went to school I got to take some of my gang with me, AND still keep some at home, which my lovely mum looked after during the week I managed to escape home most weekends, usually with a new friend in tow (human and animal) Everyones' unwanted or surplus animals came home with me, my poor parents I know now they are not allowed at any age in the school, sadly the nuns have all now departed, and they also allow boys at my kindergarden

I remember getting a goat for my ninth birthday I thought Nanny (imaginative I know) was the best present ever until I got Billy (yes you guessed it another goat) for my eleventh birthday, but sadly he passed on during our family holiday

Babyboos, it sounds like you have lots of nice memories as I do from your school days! I really think that the schools then were so tolerant of animals and pets! I'm glad for my experiences and I'm sure it encouraged me to love animals even more

Oh yes I loved school maybe that is why I spent so long at university I just did not want to leave that learning, social scene. I go back from time to time to speak to the girls and help out with events. It is quite a small school so very friendly, and I would not hesitate to send my girls (if I ever have any ) there. I have made friends from all over the world and have been able to travel extensively with free accomodation
