Default whats the best dwarf hamster to get?

Hey all!

Does anyone here own a Dwarf Campbell’s Russian hamster, Dwarf Winter White Russian Hamster or a Dwarf Roborovskis Hamster? I'm asking because I'm interested in getting one as a new additon. Also any advice and tips will be well appreciated.

Which is the best one to tame?

Which is the one which bites the least

Which one can you keep in pairs?

Thank you for your help.

Hi minicooper. I`m new to hamsters again after a long time, so I can`t claim to be qualified enough to begin to answer your questions! But I`ll have a go.

I would say Roborovskis are the least likely to bite, but are the fastest and smallest hamsters. I`m due to get three boys soon and I`m so looking forward to having them. Staring with a same sex pair would be a good idea?

I`ve heard that Winter Whites are lovely natured little hamsters, but never having had any, I`ll leave this to someone who has them!

Now my new Campbells boy Scooby has yet to be assessed on temperament, although these are said to be the nippiest hamster. I believe in allowing a hamster to be his or her own character and sometimes this means being bitey or not necessarily liking to be handled. This can be overcome by allowing the hamster time and not rushing things. Patience and kindness is the key.

There are breeders on here who I`m sure would love to give you their advice on the hamsters they breed and sell. Rescue hamsters may not be everyones choice, but believe me, I`ve had so much joy from rehoming animals, I would never go anywhere else if I can help it.

Take your time and choose something that suits you. Roborovskis can be tamed down, but don`t expect miracles! They are wee busy bodies!

Hi there I have all varieties of dwarf hamster at the moment; chinese, roborovski, campbells and winter white. Winter whites are my favourite and the only type of dwarf hamster i breed currently but i'm going to try not to be too biast towards them when answering your questions

Which is the best one to tame? As long as you get the hamster(s) from a good breeder and handle it regularly enough any hamster is easier to tame. Out of the dwarfs winter whites and robos are better i feel for handling although winter whites are a little nippy sometimes (if you have the smell of food on your hands) robos are very very fast (like grease lightening is the best description i've heard!)

Which is the one which bites the least I'd say robo's although that doesn't mean to say you'll never be bitten from a robo.

Which one can you keep in pairs? Past experience of robos didn't end well with them being in groups they all fought between each other, winter whites do well as pairs and campbells do well in pairs or groups. Chinese females can be difficult to keep in pairs i'm not too sure about the boys.

Hope this helps you, ever need any more advice you know where we are!!

If you look at the hamster info/articles, there are different pafes for each dwarf hamster and they tell what they are like.
