Default Dwarf Hamster food out of stock!

Hi

I have been waiting for some stock to come back in Zooplus of Bunny Dwarf Hamster Dream as they had advised me they hoped to get some more. Yesterday I had an email saying they are no longer selling it and I can't find it anywhere else to purchase because of companies no longer shipping to the UK, including Rodipet.
Is there any other food suitable for Dwarfs that can be purchased in the UK as I am getting a little worried as I do not want to feed him rubbish. Thankfully I still have enough of his current food for about a month or two.

Thanks.

I had a look on eBay but nothing there either except the odd bag at extortionate prices. I would get some Harry Hamster. They are fine with that and it contains everything needed. I switched to it for a while for our Syrian as it’s produced in the Uk so should be available. If you get some now you can switch over gradually mixing it with the current one over a week or two. My last lot from Rodipet wasn’t very good either - it seemed to be full of dusty stuff. So I’m sticking with Harry Hanster and the rest of my Bunny dream for now.

Thank you. Are the bits not too big for a Dwarf? I see that is also currently out of stock but hopefully they will be able to get some more in. How about Puur mixture, I see there is one left on Ebay but don't know much about it?

Thanks again.

It’s fine for dwarf hamsters and for Syrians. Yes dwarf hamsters do prefer the smaller seeds etc but you can supplement with those and just buy a bag of linseeds and hemp seeds - both very nutritious and they like them. I just use those as an ‘extra’ on a separate dish - a pinch of each. I wouldn’t go with puur though.

Amazon have HH in stock and also sell the seeds. HH has whole peanuts in shells in - you might need to make a hole in the shell to start them off but they enjoy breaking into those. There are also sunflower seeds as well as the bigger pieces which they can easily break up or chew themselves.

You could try rat rations and see what they have in stock

When i read this, i immediately jumped in the car to panic buy a year's supply of Harry Hamster.

Petsathome had run out of supplies but there's plenty in the pet section of The Range shop.

Certainly worrying times!!

Loki loves his Dwarf Hamster Dream Expert food and I'm sad I can no longer get it for him.

I have never heard of Rat Rations, is there food good quality or would Harry Hamster be the better option?

May I just ask why not Puur? I think my sister may have purchased a bag as a spare, is it not any good?

rat rations dwarf hamster food is from a german company - think it begins with an M, can't remember it off the top of my head. I would think it was better than Harry Hamster for dwarf species.

I was wondering about Puur, i don't think people think it is the best, but was wondering if it would be better than Harry Hamster for dwarf species.

Never tried Puur and never looked into it either but want to try the dwarf mix from ratrations once my Bunny Dreams Expert supply runs low. My Syrians like Harry Hamster and one of the dwarfs is like a vacuum cleaner and hoovers up anything edible. I think the other dwarfs would be fine with the HH but my elderly Robo needs a smaller mix.

The ratrations dwarf mix is by Mixerama which has a higher rating than Rodipet on the continent where it is produced. A friend of mine is waiting for an order to arrive and she'll let me know whether her hamsters like it or not. She ordered it as an alternative to Rodipet.

I would be very interested to hear what your friend's hamsters think of the food, please keep us updated.
I've still got over a months worth of food but it's just knowing whether we should stock up now before everything is out of stock! Maybe i should try and pick up a bag of HH just in case!
