How to encourage drinking from a water bottle.
Hello fellow hamster lovers! A couple of days ago, I rescued two hamsters from unsafe living conditions the first of which is Muppet. Muppet is eating well so far and seems to be thriving, but I can't tell if she knows how to use a water bottle yet (there were only water bowls in the pet store cage). Does anyone have any suggestions or strategies to encourage this? Thank you so much!

Re: How to encourage drinking from a water bottle.
I would give her a bottle and a bowl. It's always a good idea to have two water sources in case one fails.
All our hamsters have both and one of our dwarfs prefers the bowl, the others use both.
I put a pebble or glass marble large enough not to be pouched in the bowl so i don't have to worry that a tiny hamster could fall into it.
Muppet is a gorgeous little thing! Looking forward to see more of her.

Re: How to encourage drinking from a water bottle.
Thank you for your help Ria! All of my previous hamsters knew how to use a water bottle. They have both water sources right now. I am working on finding a marble to put in Muppet's bowl since she is so small.
