Lightbulb Are Mineral/Salt Licking Bars Bad?

Hello! Firstly excuse me if these mineral and salt bars have another name. Today I bought one of these bars for my hamster but on most of the forums it is written that they are not required for a hamster's diet. Are they just not necessary? Or are they bad for hamster's health? Do you use them?

Yes they are bad. They will lead to an imbalanced diet, and some even have artificial additives which should really be avoided anyways as if they weren't bad enough already!

If your hamster has a good diet then the extra minerals in those things aren't needed & they can end up getting an excess of some nutrients which really isn't healthy, salt they don't need at all so any salt block should definitely be avoided.

I got one for each of my Syrians and tbh they don't touch them but as they're bad that's probably why. So I removed them

I agree with cypher, if your hamster has a proper, balanced diet the mineral licks are unnecessary. Also stay clear of salt wheels as they are also not needed and some think that they are fatal.
