You sound like a lively and fun household! I also have the silent spinner wheel and have bought a solid wheel as well. I put stickers on the gaps to close them up and put that wheel in the playpen.

I think it may be a matter of finding a mix he likes. Hamsters can be fussy little things at times, lol.

You could weigh him weekly to monitor if he's gaining or losing weight, ideally with empty pouches.
