Exclamation My two month old female Syrian isn’t drinking

Help! My female Syrian isn’t drinking any water! I’ve provided her with a working water bottle and a small water dish, but she’s not drinking out of either of them? What should I do?

You can try putting peanut butter on the nozzle of the water bottle or you can give them cucumber. Don't give them cucumber with the peel or the seeds, and don't give too much as it can cause diarrhea. I have the same problem with my robo, so I used the peanut butter method but robos are prone to diabetes so I still don't know what to do. Good luck!

What makes you think she's not drinking? Is she showing any signs of dehydration? Hamster really drink very little if they're healthy so as long as your hamster is active & appears to be healthy she is most probably drinking when you're not around.

I wouldn't put anything on the nozzle of the bottle as this would possibly lead to a build up of bacteria & may contaminate the water, it could also encourage chewing the nozzle which can become a habit with some hams & lead to the opposite problem, over consumption of water which is harmful.

NubiNuNu robos aren't prone to diabetes so that's not something you have to be concerned about.

I had been thinking same thing of my new dwarf hamster so I'm glad to see this post as it makes me think that it is normal and he is doing OK
