Default Re: Bird seed bells for dwarf hamsters?

He has grown so much! He is a very pensive hamster...I frequently find him sitting on his wheel with a 1000 yard stare... He looks very contemplative bless him.

Norman's fur loss is just to the right of his nose which seems to fit with how he has been eating his seed bell. I will maybe lower it a bit as it might be the angle that he has to chew it from(?). I didn't notice any fur loss last night and the only thing we've done was put the seed bell in... We've never seen him chewing his bars at all.

Will keep an eye on it.

Question Can hamsters eat canned vegetables? Or can it only be fresh veggies?

Just a random question, but can hamsters eat canned veggies? I couldn’t find anything while searching the web for it, I thought maybe you guys could help me? Just to be on the safe side I have been feeding my hammy fresh veggies with her food mix.

Fresh veg are always preferable, always check ingredients with tins if veg are just in water that would be ok but not if there is salt or anything else added.

I would stick to fresh or frozen and thawed vegetables, which would typically have better nutrition and be much fresher. Frozen vegetables can be a very convenient choice if your problem with fresh vegetables would be that you don't use them all before they've gone off, and you could even have serving sizes for your hamster portioned out in small freezer safe containers to make things even easier.

Well the seed bell has been a hit with baby Rollo!

Monty and Nanuk have both nibbled theirs and I had to remove Norman's due to his scraping his nose on his.
