Default Bunny dwarf hamster dream mix

Hello everyone.

I've read that dwarf hamster dream by bunny is a good food for hamsters though it is a tad short on protein, so it needs to be mixed with another high protein food.

Can you suggest a mix for me, using dwarf hamster dream by bunny? I am aware of other common mixes, but sadly they are not available in my country and shipment is not an option (due to shipment, VAT, import taxes etc.)

I have used this but didn't mix it with anything. Instead I just supplemented the protein. This is only really needed for the first year as they need less protein over a year old. I would give a nut once a week as a treat - either plain cashew, half a pecan or half a walnut piece. Plus a bit of freeze dried chicken once or twice a week. That seemed to be fine! If you can't get freeze dried chicken then fresh cooked meat or fish is fine as well as long as it is plain cooked with no sauces, spices etc. So if we had a roast chicken our hammy would get a bit as well. Although I only ever gave that during out of cage time to make sure it was eaten and not pouched. It was pouched once but must have been eaten straight away in the nest as no chicken was found to go off!

Also freeze dried shrimps are used by some.

The other thing I did was get some Science selective hamster which is an all in one food wiht the correct protein and scatter a couple of those pellets twice a week as extras. Just to make sure he was getting enough of everything.

It id quite a good mix & I agree you really don't need another mix to go with it just the extra protein foods to boost the levels as it\s adequate in other ways, you don't have to be too precise about it but I would aim to give some extra complete protein foods like chicken, shrimps, mealworms rather than plant based proteins although plain tofu is also a good supplement & mine love it. I use dried chicken meant for cats (just pure dried chicken) & if you can get it mine enjoy a little piece of dried salmon once a week too.

I only just started feeding my dwarf Bunny Dream last week and am so pleased with it. Everything is...recognisable
The pieces are a great size and there is plenty of variety so no boredom. I was worried my picky little eater may dig out his favourite bits and leave the rest but he empties his bowl every time. Like others have said, I've supplemented with just a plain bit of chicken or egg white. Don't think you can go far wrong with a few science selective pellets though.
Happy feeding
