Default bunny dwarf hamster food help

Thinking of getting a new dwarf hamster in the next few weeks. My previous dwarf was on burgess dwarf mix for her entire 2 and a half year life but that doesn't exist anymore so I would be using the bunny dwarf mix from Zooplus this time,
my main concern is with the price, how long approximately does one bag last for a single dwarf hamster? I can't remember how quickly my old dwarf went through a bag of food. Also with the protein being a bit low, how many mealworms do I give and how often? I don't want to get it wrong and not give enough protein

Default Re: bunny dwarf hamster food help

I think roughly a couple of months maybe a bit more, it depends on how much the hamster eats. I’d buy two bags at a time to be honest and just keep one in the freezer or something. For extra protein you’re probably only looking at a couple of additional mealworms a day (or some shrimp, freeze dried or boiled chicken). It won’t be much more than that. Not sure which food you’re getting but I’d try and get the Expert over the Basic as it’s a more natural mix.
