Default Rodipet Hybrid Hamster Food “Junior”

So I have been looking for a better food mix for Humbug - as currently he on the P@h muesli - since pieces being more dwarf suitable compared to the Harry hamster plus this was the only food Treacle would eat so had a lot left over. However I want to give him the a better food mix and from looking around various websites I am considering the rodipet Hybrid junior mix - https://www.rodipet.co.uk/pet-foods/...nior-500g.html

I did look into the Bunny Dream Expert Hamster Food however it still contains the pellets which Humbug doesn’t touch in the muesli mix plus I am unsure about certain ingredients and its suitability to hybrids such as “...carrot...carrot residue...”.

What appeals to me about the rodipet mix is that it is hybrid specific with vast selection of seeds and that it doesn’t contain pellets. Although what puts me off slightly is the price just in case he doesn’t like it.

So the questions I have is...
  1. What food do you feed your Hybrid hamster? I know burgess dwarf was popular but has since stopped being produced (but I didn’t like this mix)
  2. Have anyone tried this mix? Or any other rodipet mix? What did your hamsters think?
  3. Are the GA’s good for a hybrid? Are the ingredients good?
  4. Is their a better mix for hybrids?

I don't have a hybrid hamster but have used the junior mix for syrian and dwarf hamsters. The pieces are better sizes than the Bunny mixes. I actually mix the Bunny dwarf mix with the Rodipet mix.

Our Robo likes the Rodipet mix - I started using it on its own when I ran out of the Bunny mix. I would definitely give it a try.

I read up about it just now and it sounds excellent. The protein levels are good and I like that they have balanced it to prevent insulin peaks. I think I would use it if I had a hybrid dwarf hamster.

I feed my Russian dwarfs on Harry Hamster supplemented with millet, herb/flower mixes, and dried mealworm, dried shrimp, or freeze dried chicken for protein. I used to feed mine on Burgess but switched to HH because the Burgess became mostly millet (before they switched to a pellet mix). I also feed my hammies fresh veggies regularly.

Eventually I want to make my own Russian hybrid mix but I don’t have the time to work on creating a balanced mix right now.

The Rodipet mixes are meant to be very good though. I’ve been meaning to try out their regular dwarf mix for my Robo but I’m waiting till I can place a bigger order (probably get some hides and labyrinth houses) since it’s not a priority.

The Rodipet mix is really quite similar to the mix I make for my hams, it's a good mix with lots of variety & the GA is good other than the low protein level which is easily supplemented with things like mealworms, shrimps, chicken & tofu The protein is only a little low for a young ham & fine for most older hams so it's not really a problem.
The Bunny Expert is quite a good mix but I would recommend Rodipet over that, of the dwarf mixes easily available I would say it's probably the best.

D'oh! sorry I must have misread it, too early in the morning or not enough coffee That's fine, a few extras for a young ham would still be good but that is a good protein level.

I know - I nearly said it was low in protein as well - then had a look and it's different to the other mixes. Sounds good.

They recommend feeding a dried insect daily with their mixes so that’s probsbly why most of them have a lower protein level.

I like this mix too - accidentally went and bought the hybrid one over the normal dwarf one for my robo and she prefers it! It does look nice.

Thank you all for your response it has really helped me to make the decision and I feel like it definitely worth a try with Humbug as he only really eats the seeds of his current mix so am fairly certain he will enjoy this rodipet mix.

Serendity7000 and Mangoandmimi, do either of you have a photo of the size of the packaging? - as it hard to tell from the photo on the rodipet website how much you actually get.
