Need some help with my dwarfs diet!
My new hammy is coming very soon!
And i need some help creating a diet for her
My basic is Harry Hamster Tasty Mix and I was planning to add some mealworms.
Also she will get some fresh vegetables beside the diet (2 or 3 times a week)
What should I add to her diet?

Ideas on fresh foods to feed
List of safe & unsafe foods
These will help. You can start with fresh veg a few times a week and then increase it to daily.
I tend to stay away from fruits and processed foods and mainly feed veg - carrot, broccoli, baby sweet corn, cucumber & green beans are favourites. You’ll soon find what your hamster likes and doesn’t like though. You can also give the odd nut which they enjoy.

Re: Need some help with my dwarfs diet!
That sounds fine - after a couple of weeks you can give fresh veg every day - it becomes their raison d'etre coming out for the fresh veg each day! Just a tiny amount though - thumbnail sized. Harry Hamster has everything in that is needed - adding mealworms is a bonus and will supplement the protein a bit. So you don't really need anything except that and the fresh veg. You can give healthy treats as extras now and then - I put a treat out every day on a little shelf (our hammy knows to go there for it so it gets him using the whole cage) - and vary it between half a walnut, or pecan nut or half a brazil nut, or a few pumpkin seeds, or a tiny piece of cheddar cheese (rarely).
Veg i tend to alternate between broccoli, cucumber, carrot as they keep well in the fridge.
Are you in the US? Harry Hamster is fine for a dwarf hamster but there are some dwarf specific mixes that have smaller pieces and more seeds in that dwarfs like. If you can get Burgess Dwarf Supahamster then that would be a good one - it is also sugar free (important for dwarf hamsters as they can be prone to diabetes) and contains mealworms already and has all the vitamins and protein required. So then you just need the veg again and the occasional treat.

Re: Need some help with my dwarfs diet!
Which country are you in?
If you can get a dwarf specific mix like the Burgess mix Serendipity mentioned tor the Bunny dwarfhamsterdream expert from Zooplus that would be better for a dwarf ham than Harry Hamster, if you can't get either of those then Harry Hamster would be ok just not ideal.
Other than the mealworms & as wide a variety of ham safe veg as you can manage you don't need much else, the occasional sunflower or pumpkin seed is good, a millet spray in the cage often goes down well too.

Re: Need some help with my dwarfs diet!
for fresh veg, it really depends on the hammie. my robo won't eat what my teddy likes, and will only begrudgingly accept carrot (he MUCH prefers fruit, but i will only give it to him as a rare treat), but my teddy loves most veggies i give him! bok choy and carrot are his faves.

Re: Need some help with my dwarfs diet!
Just saw from your other post that you're in Europe so the Bunny dwarfhamsterdream expert from Zooplus would be the best food for your ham.
Or if they deliver to your country you could go for the Rodipet mix,

Re: Need some help with my dwarfs diet!
So I can just feed her Harry Hamster with mealworms and veggies?
Is this good enough or do I need more protein, because she will be between the age of 2 and 4 months!
Also, should I add a pedigree milk bone with the mix?

Re: Need some help with my dwarfs diet!
Don't give the milk bones, they contain various sugars & if your ham is a Russian it will be prone to diabetes so you should avoid anything with added sugar or honey, even fruit should only be a very rare treat.
