Question Pregnant hamster and baby diet

was wondering what to feed to a pregnant hamster, during weaning and what to feed the babies when they are fully weaned. I know you have to increase the protein, but so far I’m unable to find a solid guide on what to feed them during this three stages. Other than tofu, mealworms, egg whites and boiled chicken on top of seed mix, is there anything else?

I’m not sure on what to feed the mother. Maybe someone else can help you with that. When you are feeding tofu, egg whites etc. you can also introduce leafy greens like lettuce, broccoli, etc. I hope someone else can help!

Souffle can definitely give you a lot of good advice regarding the care of pregnant mother hams! Make sure you’re giving her lots of protein, and plenty to fatten herself up with. Good luck with the pups when they do come- make sure not to disturb the new mother once she’s had them.

Oh I don’t have any pregnant hams, just a grumpy old boy running his last third of the track. Just wanted to ask because I tend to get asked this a lot, and I just want to learn more about how to take care of a pregnant hamster, in the event I do have to.

Oh, that’s a relief! If you want some more info, browsing breeder’s sites can usually be of use. I’m sure some breeders will also come along to help you out here. Good luck if you ever do end up with a pregnant ham, though hopefully you won’t have to deal with that
