What's a trusted brand of mealworms?
I'm really having trouble finding a good brand of dried mealworms.
The first brand I used gave me a massive grain mite infestation. They were already inside the bag when I bought them, I didn't realise. I did think they looked "dustier" than other brands I've seen used but I thought nothing of it until I noticed every surface in my flat crawling with the things. It put me off using them for a whole year, I just finally bought a new tub of a different brand and found LIVE beetles in there! I don't know if some of the mealworms were still alive and turned into beetles in the tub, or if somehow the live beetles got mixed in at the factory or whatever.
But I just want a good brand! My hamsters like them and I don't want to resort to some other food for their animal protein.

Re: What's a trusted brand of mealworms?
I buy my dried mealworm from The Range, I haven’t had a problem with live bugs in mine.
However when you buy a packet of mealworms you can place the bag in the freezer for 24 to 48 hours this will kill any live bugs therefore you won’t risk having any bug infestations. I also like to freeze all food and treats just to be on the safe side after a few years back getting a huge moth infestation.

Realised I forgot to mention in my last post but once you take the food out of the freezer after 24 to 48hrs make sure to store the food in airtight container.
