Unhappy Advice please!

Hey guys!
Day 5 of having my Robo and still not seen her drink and I am getting worried! She seems fine in herself still mega active but really puzzled as to why she isn’t drinking! Unless she’s drinking when I’m asleep?!
I have also been out today and bought her the happy hamster hamster food, is this okay for her or does anyone recommend anything else?
I also bought some Johnson’s vitamin drops for her which I put on her food and I don’t see the point in putting it in her water as I haven’t seen her drink it! Are these drops okay for my little fur ball?
I think with me being a new owner I’m just worried about everything haha, I want my little baby to have an amazing life!
Thank you! X

Hello!
Don't worry about the water since hamsters generally drink very small amounts of water. I would say run a clean finger over the water spout to check that it works. Odds are he's drinking it at times you're not around.
I am do not know about the hamster mix, but I'm sure someone else will. I don't really see a need to include vitamin drops into the diet. A good hamster mix should provide this, along with fresh vegetables that you provide him. I've also read that some hamsters might even avoid it due to the taste.

I’ve checked the water bottle and it is working fine, I have 2 different ones, one that came with the cage and I bought the same one from the pet shop that I got her from incase she preferred that one, she must be drinking it when I’m asleep cause surely if she hadn’t drunk for 5 days she would be a lot weaker than she is now?(currently been running on her wheel for half an hour), I also give her cucumber, kiwi and carrots to hydrate her but only give these about 3 times a week as I’ve read fresh food can give her diarrhoea and I don’t want that! I also bought her some naturals fluffy bedding is this okay for her? She seems to love it but I just want to make sure! Thank you for your help!

Vegetables is dependant on what kind of vegetables you feed. Things like cucumber is very high in water content and can certainly cause diarrheoa. I found a list on another forum, can seem to find the link, but I'll post the list below. The list is specifically for dwarves.
Fluffy bedding is bad for them. Can cause it get stuck between their, choking and respiratory problems. Best to remove it immediately. Shred stone toilet paper and leave it in a corner. Your hamster will build a nest with it and will love it.

Foods Safe for Both Syrians and Dwarfs:
Veggies:
Asparagus
Basil
Bean Sprouts
Bok Choy
Broccoli
Brussels Sprouts
Clover
Cabbage (in small amounts. Some people say it causes an upset stomach and gas, feed rarely in VERY small amounts.)
Cauliflower
Celery
Cucumbers (cucumber, watermelon and celery are only to be offered as a source for water. If you hamster is dehydrated, or showing signs, OR if you're transporting your hamster these actually make great replacements for water)
Watermelon
Dandelion flowers and leaves
Endive
Green Beans
Green Pepper
Chard
Chestnuts
Chickweed
Chicory
Kale
Orange Pepper
Parsnips
Potatoes (cooked)
Radicchio
Red Pepper
Romaine Lettuce
Spinach
Swiss chard
Turnip
Water Chestnuts
Water Cress
Yellow Pepper
Zucchini

Other Foods:
Alfalfa
Almonds
Baby Food
Buckwheat
Bran or Wheat Germ
Brown rice (cooked, plain)
Dry Toast (whole wheat, NO white)
Flax seeds
Hay
Lentils
Millet
Nuts (except almonds)
Oatmeal (plain, dry, or soak in skim/soy/low fat milk)
Pasta (cooked, plain, wheat or spinach)
Peanuts (plain, unsalted) - RARE TREAT.
Pumpkin seeds
Sesame seeds
Soybeans (roasted, salt-free)
Squash Seeds
Sunflower Seeds

Meat/Protein foods:
Cooked, unseasoned ground beef (lean preferred)
Baked/Steamed, unseasoned Turkey/Chicken
Low Fat Cottage Cheese
Grasshoppers (pet shop only!)
Mealworms (pet shop only!)
Crickets (pet shop only!)
Eggs (boiled/scrambled, plain!) (1/4 of white part once a week. Or very small amount of yolk; the yolk is high in cholesterol, and very high in protein, Shouldn't be given often.)
Plain Tofu
Plain Yogurt (no sugar added)
Dog Biscuits (make sure there is no garlic/onion in these!)

****Fruits (remember, fruits are high in sugars and should be fed to your dwarf or Chinese hamster on a very rare basis...perhaps once a month)..Stick to a thumbnail sized piece no more than a monthly basis

FOODS THAT SHOULD NEVER BE FED:
Chocolate (toxic)
Carrots
*****Fruits (too high in sugar...unless offered on a rare basis--see chart above in SYRIAN for reference to which are okay)
Corn
Peas
Squash
Sweet Potatoes
Onion (possibly toxic in some animals)
Garlic (possibly toxic in some animals)
Peanut Butter (can get stuck in pouches)
Sandwich meats (contain too much salt, high nitrates)
Apple Seeds
Citrus fruits (too high in acidity, can put them at risk for ulcers)
Canned foods and other processed foods
Candy/ Junk Foods
Pork
Potatoes (raw)
Kidney Beans
Eggplant
Fool’s Parsley
Grape Seeds
Avocado
Raw Rhubarb
Tomato leaves
Citrus fruits (including orange, tangerine, lemon, lime, grapefruit, etc)
Fruit pits/ most fruit seeds
Jams/jellies

***ICEBURG LETTUCE: Far too high in water content.

Start slow on how the quantity of the vegetables. If you feel she's comfortable with it you can vary the quantity/frequency.

If you notice signs of fatigue and weakness, it's possible she hasn't figured out how to use the bottle. Consider applying a trace of peanut butter around the spout. She figure it out.

Didn’t know she wasn’t allowed to eat carrots so I’ll take them little pieces out immediately! I will also try the peanut butter on the water bottle to see if that helps! I got told by the pet shop that the bedding I got was okay because it is Kapok and is non tangle which they said will not get caught around her limbs but as for the respiratory problems I didn’t know! She absolutely loves the bedding so it would be a shame to get rid of it, if I post the link to the bedding will you be able to tell me if I would be able to keep it or not? She seems to be fine at the moment she doesn’t seem to be showing signs of weakness or fatigue but I will keep a close eye on her! Thank you! I will post the link to the bedding that I have

Carrots are usually high in sugars. Which is why it's best to avoid it.

As for the bedding, better safe than sorry right? Toilet paper is completely safe and they usually tend to shred it very finely into a nice fluff. So in about a few days she'll make a really comfy bedding soon.
There is another thread in the forum which argues the safety of kapok fluff. Often times per stores provide outdated and wrong information. I think I read somewhere in a post by another user,
would you go to a grocery story asking for health advice? The same way you cannot ask a pet store for pet advice. it's unfortunate, but true.

Kapok bedding really isn't worth the risk.
Use plain white toilet tissue, just tear it into strips, she'll be just as happy with that for her nest.

Hi guys!
Today I ripped up a load of toilet tissue for my little mimi to use instead of the kapok bedding and she keeps trying to eat it, other than that she isn’t interested at all! What do I do? I don’t want her to be without bedding!
Thank you guys x
