Dog chews
I've seen here and some other places that hamsters can have dog chews. I'm from the U.S. and people said they gave their hamsters Whimzees or Greenies. I think most people on here are from the UK but do you know how often these are ok to be given?

Re: Dog chews
In the UK we also use Whimzees chews too (and also can get greenies). I wouldn’t advise greenies as the ingredients aren’t the best and they are quite soft so aren’t good for chew toys.
Whimzees are safe though and I normally leave one in my hamster cage all the time as she doesn’t chew/eat it large amounts.

Re: Dog chews
I have the biscrock dog treats for my hams, though I have only ever given them the chicken ones. I can't remember if the beef and lamb ones are safe for hams. Hopefully someone else can confirm

Re: Dog chews
I give the chicken biscrock to my hamsters too, the beef (brown) are called "spicy beef" so i guess there's spice in there, while the lamb (red) ones have garlic in them, if i remember right, so only the chicken (white) ones are safe

Re: Dog chews
I use them too & as far as I know the beef & lamb are both safe but my hams won't touch them, only the chicken.
I've chucked my box out now but I thought all the ingredients were safe, I know other members use them but I'll have to check again.

Re: Dog chews
Sorry! I must have mistaken brand or something because i just checked the package I have at home and it doesn't mention any particularly unsafe ingredients so, it's all good

Re: Dog chews
All three flavours of the Biscrok Originals are safe for hamsters and they used to be the first choice of dog biscuit for the show pens due to their low salt content however the manufacturers have stopped making these (at least in the UK) so the clubs have had to find something else.
Some people find that their hamsters only seem to like the chicken ones but Victoria actually prefers the lamb ones and Matthew prefers the beef ones so I guess it's a matter of individual preference.

Oh that's a shame that they have stopped making them
