Default Should I break up his food?

Hi everyone, how are you all? 🙂
Bambi is doing good he's not as active as he used to be but he's doing good.
I have started noticing recently that he has completely stoped eating his bigger pieces of food. He's currently on Harry Hamster food and he's been on it for a while, he seems to really like it. I'm aware that there are foods made for dwarf hamsters but I've tried a few different ones out in the past and he didn't really seem to like them. Plus, I wouldn't want to change his food right now because he seems to like it.

I just wondered if it would be better to start breaking his bigger bits of food up? He still has all of his teeth and they look pretty healthy - they're not overgrown or anything. However I'm worried about breaking it up because Bambi doesn't use any chew toys he has lots in his cage but he's never used them so, he mainly keeps his teeth down by eating his food. So I'm worried that if I break it up it his teeth could become overgrown??

I'm probably just overthinking things as usual but I just want to make sure that he doesn't lose weight.

Thank you 😊

It won't do any harm to break them up a bit, you don't have to smash them into small pieces, he will still be wearing his teeth eating the smaller pieces & if he has any seeds large or small in the shell that will help with his teeth too.
It might be worth having another go at introducing a little of another food to see if he prefers it now, when you say you don't want to change his food because he likes it but he isn't eating a fair portion of it then maybe it's the smaller seeds he enjoys which you'll get in a dwarf mix.
Has he ever had a whimzee to chew on?

Hi he's had a whimzee when he was really young, but our nearest pets at home is ages away and I don't drive so getting them is a problem. It's a shame since he really enjoyed it too. I'm think I'll look up to see if he can eat on dog treats that they have in my local pet shop ☺

Not many dog treats are suitable, you can order whimzees online if you have trouble getting them locally.
Some dog biscuits are ok but not all, I give mine half a bonio now & then but not all like them.
