Default yogurt drop dilemma

ok so i am a new hamster owner and I got a Roborovski hamster it has been 24hours since I got him and I found out he loves yoghurt drops and I would like
to start the tame process tomorrow but I looked online and apparently robos are prone to diabetes so i would like to know if yogurt drops are ok or a different treat is better.
thx

Robos are fortunately not prone to diabetes. This means an occasional yogurt drop or two won't hurt him. Yogurt drops aren't healthy for any species, diabetes prone or not, so feed in moderation Better treats are plain cheerios, bits of fresh veggies, and small seeds. Best wishes!

I break up larger treats for my robo. You could give him 1/4 of the yogurt drop. My robo prefers sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds. So you could try those with your robo. Still not giving many at a time.

All the best with your new hamster.

As Drago said you don't need to worry about diabetes with a robo but yogurt drops really are unhealthy so the occasional piece as a rare treat but try to give healthier treats instead, as well as sunflower & pumpkin seeds CMB suggested you can try a few flax seeds, hemp seeds, tiny pieces of nut like walnut, pine nut or brazil, a little piece of millet spray, tiny pieces of dried chicken are good too as well as veg, try to keep things varied & everything in moderation.

I’m not quite sure if it is real yoghurt or just yoghurt-taste drops. I watched Erinsanimale and she feeds her hamster with the drops. However I checked the ingredients written on the package and it contains too much artificial or chemically processed components. I won’t recommend.

Robos are a lot of fun so I'm sure you're going to have a lovely time taming him. As already said, yoghurt drops for a robo aren't as bad as for some species but I'd still only keep them as an original treat. There's a lot of sugar in them I think so it's basically junk food for a robo You've only had him for a day so, personally, I'd still be taking things slowly & letting him settle in but this also means you don't need to decide straight away on the taming treat. Try lots of things - sunflower seeds are usually a favourite or sweet corn from food mix. If you're worried about over doing it then in the past, I've picked the favourite bits out of the food bowl before I've put it in & hand fed those. And when she's been home a bit longer you can gradually build up to some small pieces of veg & find out what's a favourite there too.

along with all treats you should not feed your hammy too much, if you want a healthy treat for him try grapes, you can also get them carrots but do it very sparingly as carrot has sugar in.

Grapes are ok but the seeds are poisonous both to hams and dogs! Just a heads up
