Default What I could add to Harry hamster?

Hi everyone!
I was wondering what I could add to Harry hamster to make it better and add or variation? Right now it has protein 18% fat 6% fibre 6%. I was going to add some meal worms and maybe oats. What do u think I could add?

You don't need to add anything to Harry Hamster, it already has plenty of protein & the basic nutrients your ham will need.
How old is your ham? A little extra protein like mealworms wouldn't hurt with a young ham but for an older ham it would be too much.
That doesn't mean you can't give your ham some variety but not on a daily basis, you can give the occasional piece of nut like brazil, walnut, pine nut or cashew for example, a few extra sunflower of pumpkin seeds once in a while as a treat & various other things in moderation.
On a daily basis, building up gradually you can give fresh veg, just a small piece & try to use a good variety within the safe list.

Harry Hamsters is already great. But if you want to add new types of food into your hamster's diet, introduce it gradually, as it may disturb your hamster's digestion. Also, see what your hamster likes, some may love mealworms, while others will just ignore them (or even run away).
I would also put a walnut still in its shell in the cage. It'll help entertain your hamster, as well as wear down their claws and teeth(it'll chew and claw its way to reach the walnut) as well as provide.... the walnut!

I would just add extras as treats. As Cypher says, it contains everything needed but it's always nice to have fresh food and treat. The occasional half a brazil nut or walnut has some protein and is a nice treat, or a mealworm (if your hamster likes them). I also give a very small piece of fresh veg each day. But that needs introducing gradually if you don't do it already, so maybe every 3 days, then every 2 then every day.

A lot of people who have harry hamster tend to mix it with Burgess food, but it's on the whole completely unnecessary. Adding some mealworms wouldn't hurt

Thanks so much everyone who replied! I will probably be getting a 6-8week old hamster so mealworms seem like a good thing to add.

Unlike dwarf hams who go mad for them not all Syrians like mealworms, it's worth a try as some do but don't be too surprised if your new ham isn't too keen.

I add science selective biscuits to mine. They like one once in a while, it makes for a bit of variety. As others have said the odd piece of nut and some herbs seem to go down well.

Best of luck with your new hamster.

I highly recommend the barney and the alexander cages on zooplus.
