Allergy?
I changed the hamster's food to Brit. I noticed that the hamster started scratch a lot. Has this food been able to cause allergies?

Re: Allergy?
Did you change the food gradually over a period of time or all in one go?
A sudden change isn't good & can cause problems, I don't know the food but it's possible that it doesn't provide all the nutrients your ham needs so that's something to consider, how long ago did you make the change & how different are the old & new foods?
It is possible your ham could be allergic to something in the food but difficult to say for sure.
Do you have a link to the food so we can see what's in it?
Also has anything else changed in the cage or anything that may have caused your ham any stress?

Re: Allergy?
Food is this: https://brit-petfood.com/en/products...mster-complete
Hm, for two weeks I was mixing with old food... Maybe that was not enough...
What should I do now? Just give old food?
Due to stress, we recently went to the vet, but it's unlikely that she was stressed for that, because the hamster responded calmly.

Re: Allergy?
Two weeks should be long enough, I don't really see any likely allergens in that food but I don't think it's really good enough as the main mix, fine for a bit of variety maybe but it does have rather limited ingredients, protein is a little low for a younger ham (OK for an older one) fibre is too low & fat is a little low too.

Re: Allergy?
If she was doing ok on the old food then you could try going back to that & see if she does better.
What was she having before?

Re: Allergy?
The JR farm one does have a much greater variety of ingredients, the fat & fibre levels are a bit better although the protein is very low, it's easy enough to supplement protein with a little chicken or mealworms though so you may be better using that or mixing a little of the new one with the old & see how that goes.
