Syrian good food
My Syrian isn't keen on the rubbish they were feeding her at PAH, I obviously got the same stuff not to upset her tummy but now I'd like to slowly change it, do you have any suggestions on good Syrian food? I feed my dwarf Burgess dwarf mix, he loves it, could she eat the dwarf one too? It's sooooo hard to get hold of Burguss Syrian mix here in the UK.

Re: Syrian good food
Harry/Hazel Hamster is ideal for Syrians The Burgess Syrian food isn't as good as the dwarf version though.

Re: Syrian good food
It's Harry Hamster she has now and she's not impressed with it.

Re: Syrian good food
I know that PAH have a mix they claim to be the same as Harry Hamster but it really isn't and there has been a notable difference in hamster preference when switched to authentic high quality Harry Hamster So,if you're feeding the PAH version and not the real Harry Hamster, that could be why she doesn't like it.

Re: Syrian good food
Really to god?! That's a right rip off! Yeah that's the one I'm feeding her from PAH, hamster harvest or something. She hates it. Ok thanks, I'll get some of the proper HH and see how she goes.
Thanks, love.

Re: Syrian good food
My Syrian does best on Beaphar XtraVital - I don't know how it chalks up on paper compared to HH, but it the only mix I've tried that he reliably clears the bowl on. My reasoning has always been it's better for him to have something that he'll eat all of, rather than something that he just picks at!

Re: Syrian good food
Opinions vary person to person regarding diet. I personally feed a mix of Higgins sunburst, Oxbow garden select, and Mazuri rat and mouse food (note that the GA is properly calculated both by hand and by using a program made for this), and all my hams do great on it. Hazel/Harry hamster is loved by some and hated by others. All we can really do is just use sound reasoning and come to a conclusion on what's best from there. I personally feel there is no one true mix that is good, as none can meet the nutritional needs that a hamster requires
