Bunny Dwarf HamsterDream Expert
I was having a look on zooplus (as you do!) today and came across this Bunny Dwarf HamsterDream Expert | Free P&P on orders £29+ at zooplus! and wondered if it would be any good for hybrids? Or if anyone had tried it before?
The protein seems a bit low at 15.5% compared to Burgess at 17.5% but I do like that it doesn't have any grass pellets in it and looks to have a bit more variety in it (I always worry that they'll be getting bored with it).
Thank you

Re: Bunny Dwarf HamsterDream Expert
I think the ingredients are pretty good.As you mentioned the protein is low,but I think if you're giving extras you'd easily give that minimal 2.5% anyways if not more!
Just make sure to give appropriate high quality extras like freeze dried chicken and all natural dog biscuits(not Biscrok etc as these are poor quality despite being popular)along with fresh vegetables

Re: Bunny Dwarf HamsterDream Expert
That's a new one I think, I haven't used that but it is similar to the old Bunny dwarf hamster dream which I used to use as one of my mixes (with Burgess among others) & the hams did seem to like it so I do think it would be worth a go for them.
Protein is a little low but you can soon top that up & as they get older they really don't need so much protein anyway so I wouldn't worry about that.

Thanks Amity and Cypher I think I'll try it out and see what the boys think, would be nice to see empty bowls rather than the nearly empty bowls with the grass pellets pushed to the side or stuffed in their toilets lol.

Re: Bunny Dwarf HamsterDream Expert
The Bunny food has been around for quite a long time and it was used by a number of breeders and found to be good however it stopped being imported for a while.
it is expensive but worth a try I would say.

Re: Bunny Dwarf HamsterDream Expert
Funnily enough I was looking for that the other day as it came up on a search. Zooplus didn't have it so must have just got it in stock. I wonder if it replaces the Bunny Dream Hamster Basic or if both are still on the go. I think it sounds good too. I was looking up mung beans to see what they were

Re: Bunny Dwarf HamsterDream Expert
Thanks Souffle it is expensive, given that it's a smaller bag but I see zooplus has triple points on so that will help me to justify it lol.
I came across it in the new products Serendipity, but I see the basic mix for Syrians and dwarfs are still there so maybe they had been out of stock as you say

Re: Bunny Dwarf HamsterDream Expert
I can't find it on Zooplus now Just the Dwarf Hamster Expert. Oops - yes that's the one you linked. The one I saw elsewhere wasn't the dwarf hamster version.
This is the one I saw (not the dwarf version) from a German seller on ebay. I hope Zooplus start stocking it. I like the idea of a mix that doesn't rely on soya for protein and it seems like a better mix than the Dream Basic.
Access Denied
The only ingredients I wasn't sure about were - wheat bran. I know that used to be popular for humans and then the experts said it wasn't good on its own, only as part of whole wheat germ, as it could cause bloating. It is right on the end of the list of ingredients though so not much presumably. Also mung beans. Which are the beans bean sprouts come from but I think I read that only the sprouts should be given and not the beans themselves. So I'm in two minds about it.

Re: Bunny Dwarf HamsterDream Expert
Zooplus only seem to sell the dwarf expert one, I don't think I've ever seen the non dwarf expert on there only the bunny basic, not sure how different it is.
Wheat bran is fine, some people give it as an extra & mine enjoy the occasional bran flake so no worries there, mung beans are one sprout that shouldn't really be given to hams but the actual beans are ok, some German syrian mixes seem to have quite a lot of pulses/beans in them.

Re: Bunny Dwarf HamsterDream Expert
I would consider bran from safe grains on such a level as relatively safe, and most likely beneficial especially if it were cooked in some way. There is the issue of phytic acid which can cause nutritional issues(mostly in high amounts though, which in this case probably isn't likely),but other than that there aren't really any other problems I can think of!Of course, anything in excess can be unhealthy
