Re: PB for hamsters
It really depends on the ingredients in the peanut butter. Amityvillehams would be able to give you some good info on this. I would use a pure peanut butter, made with only peanuts. No sugar or other ingredients added. And only a small bit, not too much.

Re: PB for hamsters
Peanut butter is safe just make sure to check for things like dyes and artificial flavourings. I suggest that you go for butter that's lesser in sugar and make sure not to give a lot as it has a high amount of fats. I suggest not to give anything more than half a teaspoon. I'm not sure about the creamy or crunchy type but I use creamy. Hope this helps :P

Re: PB for hamsters
Peanut Butter is safe but it is an acquired taste. My hammy will not take it, if I dip treats in it, he will eat around the PB, also just cause he/she likes peanuts is not a guarantee I suggest just feeding peanuts as they will help wear down their teeth and provides same benefits.

Re: PB for hamsters
Peanut butter is alright to offer in small amounts as treats, but I wouldn't give too much too often. It's quite sticky, sweetened, and thick for a ham. Both crunchy and creamy are safe. The only difference is that chunky contains pieces of peanuts. As mentioned above, just plain peanuts would be a much better choice

Re: PB for hamsters
Most peanut butter is packed full of sugar, salt & other ingredients you don't want your ham to have, even pure peanut butter containing nothing but ground peanuts is sticky & has the potential to cause pouch problems so I really wouldn't recommend giving any type to your ham.

Re: PB for hamsters
So. My dwarfs loved peanut butter, but I opted for an all natural one for them to avoid the sugars and processing of commercial PB.
My Syrians all hated it, to be perfectly honest.
You could try rubbing some on a chew, or including it in a treat recipe, but I wouldn't give them a glob of peanut butter.
