Default Spinach leaves ok occasionally?

Wondering if an occasional spinach leaf as a treat is ok or if the iron content could be harmful. On a side note we have hard water and it makes brown rings on the glass water bottles is that harmful?

Spinach is just fine to feed. I feed it a few times a week, and have done so with all my rodents with no issues. Spinach is extremely healthy and they love it

As for the water, as long as it's filtered and clean, I don't personally feel that the hardness of the water matters

The water would preferably not be your tap water. Many problems occur with using tap water for hamsters,so you'd be best off getting a good water filter or using filtered bottled water that has no additives(including minerals, since added minerals are not good for hamsters).

If your water is hard enough to leave rings on the bottle then it would probably be best to filter it.
Tap water is normally fine for hams but it does sound as though yours isn't the best quality water.

I wouldn't use bottled water, it doesn't have added minerals but is naturally very high in minerals & may have too much calcium.

As Drago said spinach is fine.

I give my ham a spinach leaf every night to be honest, she's a bit picky with her food but she loves them!

Every day is too much, they need a good variety of veg in rotation & not too much of any one thing, try not to give the same thing more than about once every three days.

The water dispenser in our fridge may be good enough, I will fill from there. Or I could get distilled water that I buy for my iron.

I wouldn't use distilled water if you have an alternative, it's really not the best thing to use as your hams only source of water.

No distilled water! It's a complicated issue - can't remember how but it can remove nutrients. Tap water is fine - especially if you drink it too! Just get a bottle brush maybe To clean the bottle out.

Newtie loves baby spinach. I give it a couple of times a week. I get it bags from the supermarket already washed - trouble is a bag only has about 2 or 3 days date on it and bagged stuff needs to be kept to use-by dates.

I love baby spinach so I buy it for the hams and accidentally eat it myself. Poor hammies! They enjoy it when some makes it into their cages. I live in a hard water area and my hams have tap water and always have done. I just make sure I check and clean the spouts of the bottles often
