Amity many of the grains & seeds that hams naturally eat contain phytic acid/phytates, it's not something you need worry about, they have a very different digestive system to us

I ordered a bag of the Bunny Dream basic recently (not the dwarf hamster one). It smells nice, but as I remember before - lots of tiny little itty bits. I would really like to use one thay isn't soya based though. I am trying Newtie with a little bit as well as giving his Harry Hamster, just to see if he eats it but there is a huge difference in the sizes of the pieces.

I think you'll find that the big chunky bits in the syrian mix is more of a UK & probably US thing, most German mixes tend to the more natural smaller pieces as far as I've seen so you probably won't find a good quality mix with larger bits other than HH, not that I know that much about syrian mixes, just a general observation really.

Ha ha. Sounds amazing Cypher - the Rodipet syrian mixes have good sized pieces as well. I am sure a syrian can eat little tiny bits and seeds but I can't see how they would be easy to pouch like larger pieces. It makes me want to make little biscuits out of the mix!

The Rodipet mixes have changed quite a lot recently, for the better I think, but you're right they do have some larger pieces in still but I don't really see why pouching smaller pieces or seeds should be a problem, they might just have to take a little more time over it

Lol this made me laugh, wouldn't that be something

It's a shame you can't get the expert one for Syrians Serendipity.

It is available on ebay actually! I just assumed that would have the same small pieces and the basic one was easier to get hold of on Zooplus. Maybe I should check out the expert one. Although not ideal if you switch to it and then can't get hold of it. It's a German seller that sells it on ebay but haven't seen it anywhere else.
