Been looking online for ages and it seems impossible to find freeze dried chicken with no other ingredients anywhere for a reasonable price.

This is the best chicken I've found & a small pack lasts ages.

Thank you cypher. Tried ordering them but apparently the minimum order on zooplus is 9 pounds

What about thrive 100% natural chicken? Found it on amazon for under 3 pounds. Seems to be pure chicken freeze dried with no additives.

Thrive is a really good brand from what I've heard. They're also available on Zooplus,so you could attempt making an order large enough to get free shipping or for now stick with a single item from Amazon if you'd prefer that

Thank you Amity. Have already ordered from Amazon, so will stick with that for now
Just to clarify, did you say hamsters should be fed animal protein daily (in small amounts) for the best diet?

Yes they should be.Of course, for daily animal protein you'd want to keep to lean proteins(freshwater shrimp, chicken, turkey, etc)rather than the higher fat content things(mealworms especially, which could be fed instead of the lean protein once or twice a week if you wanted for those with hamsters who eat them).

Thank you Amity. Perhaps fortunately, Mushu is not at all partial to mealworms! Hoping he likes the freeze dried chicken.

Thrive is good, I use their shrimp/prawn one. My cats and Humphrey love them, though I have never used their chicken. At pets at home they sell freeze dried chicken. That's where I got mine. Unless they have stopped doing it as I haven't looked for it for a while

Also, at wyevale garden centers, in the pet section, they have " ships cat" freeze dried and crunchy ( better for teeth) shrimp. I haven't used it yet though

Nothing wrong with thrive except none of my hams ever liked it, the go mad for the Tigeria one, you do need a bit of a list before shopping at zooplus so maybe try it when you need some other stuff too.
