Re: What do you think?
Thank you Amity. Weird, I use the Hamsterlopaedia a lot and it said that feeding milky mashes twice a week had contributed to the longevity of their hamsters. I appreciate that the information in book may be out of date, however. Mushu has only had dairy twice so hopefully that is fine and will steer away from it in future.
Conversely, I had heard that feeding meat too often was bad! I guess this means Mushu could have a little chicken more often which he will be delighted about!

Re: What do you think?
Thanks Humphrey. Am actually going to Pets at home for back 2 nature pellets tomorrow, so might have a look for shrimp cookies while I am there.

Re: What do you think?
Cool, as you can see from the pics, there's the label and Humphrey loving them, I don't feed then too often as they are seed and shrimp so I break them into smaller bits so they last longer

Re: What do you think?
April, in the cat section of the pet stores, there is a freeze dried chicken breast cat treat called Pure Bites. The only ingredient is chicken breast. My hamster, Zoey, enjoys this and I like that it is only one ingredient. If it is available in your area, it might be something Mushu would enjoy, too.

Re: What do you think?
It looks as if Humphrey is really enjoying his treat! I didn't know hamsters could eat shrimp. I didn't see it listed in any of the books I read. I'll take another look.

Re: What do you think?
Ah purebites are so expensive. Even the dog version is going to cost me 10 pounds on Amazon including postage. The cat verion would be about 30 pounds. Is it ok to use the dog version?

Re: What do you think?
Wait and see if your local pet store has a similar product with a different brand name. Dog or cat version is fine, but if you're only using it as a treat, then it isn't necessary to buy it if it is expensive. There are cheaper options for healthy treats. I think I read here somewhere that pieces of hard boiled egg are ok. Someone correct me if I'm wrong please.

Re: What do you think?
Will check the pet shops near me then. And yes, hard boiled egg is fine (to the best of my knowledge!) and I have fed it before with no issues.
