Default Would this be ok?

I have a whimzee toothbrush that my Syrian was using. He has nibbled a little of it but not a lot. Whereas my dwarf loves them and needs a replacement she is a real chewer. Would it be ok to give her the one fudge was using? As he hasn't really used it that much so it doesn't get wasted?

Thanks!

I'd be a bit weary, you never know what kind of underlying issues he could have. It would probably be better to just take it out and save it away, and give it back to your Syrian on occasion so he can nibble at it a bit more each time. However, if you are really set on giving it to your dwarf, make sure to give the part that hasn't been chewed

If your syrian really isn't interested I would just bin it, I do like to recycle as much as I can with ham things but food items are one thing I definitely wouldn't reuse.

Whimzees do take a while (weeks to months) to be worn down, but they don't go off so tbh I'd just leave it in the cage unless it's being totally ignored.

I wouldn't give it to another hamster - they're so cheap the risk just isn't worth it.

I've tried telling Tinwë that but he thinks otherwise

I really do wish Whimzees would last as long for my dog as they can for hamsters, but unfortunately 15 pounds of muscle and the jaws of a pitbull destroy Whimzees

As others have said it would be far too risky to justify reusing a chew between several hamsters. Not only could it spread illness potentially, but the scent of another hamster within a hamster's habitat could be extremely stressful.

Same with Larry-Jasper . He goes crazy (quite literally) when he sees a Whimzee. We've resorted to only being allowed it out of the cage.

I would just leave the Whimzee with your Syrian, he might want it one day. Your dwarfs will manage without a Whimzee for a few days. There's the whole scent and health risk argument which is easily avoidable.

Some fair points presented. Just thought it be handy and fudge doesn't have any issues that I know off but as has been said there's no way to know for sure. Never thought about the scent thing! Must get to p@h to stock up on a few as she seems to really take into them.

They really are wonderful chews! You might be better off if you can get them in bulk to purchase them that way instead of just purchasing them individually as it can be more cost effective

One of my hybrids also loves his whimzees! He can eat one of the smallest toothbrushes in a night Whereas my smallest hybrid, Stephano takes months to chew his. It really depends on the hamster with how fast they eat them, I think just leaving it with the Syrian would be the best option.
