Thank you cypher, that info has made it clearer. I have already put some sunflower seeds in some water to soak - so hopefully these will sprout and not go mouldy like my last batch.

I arrived today at home after two days in Madrid, and I was really surprised when I found out that the spelt was HUGE!!! Luckily I think that I'm going to have another spare cell tonight, and I'll be able to take some pics

Lol Cypher you know Artie so well He'll either love it or be absolutely disgusted that someone should tamper with something as precious as sunflower seeds :P I'm still waiting for my sprouting jar to arrive then I can't wait to see Artie's reaction

Cypher, thanks for doing this thread. I know that everyone will truly appreciate you doing this for all of us on HC. You always come up with the coolest things to do for our little, furry friends. I know that all the hammies will appreciate this gesture as well. I hope to try this out for Eros. I think he will absolutely LOVE it.

Don't be disheartened with Blacky only nibbling the tips, they sometimes do, it can take a few goes before they really begin to enjoy them too, it might make it more interesting if you did a mix of seeds but they don't always germinate at the same rate so it can be a bit hit & miss, still fun though

Did you leave the pot in his tank or just give it to him for a short while?
If you leave it in you might find more gone by morning, sometimes they just have lots of fun trashing all our hard work lol! digging up the seeds/grains & having fun walking all over their little garden, I still see that as enrichment though not wasted effort!

I put the pot twice in his tank while I was watching him, after two attempts without much success I cut some leaves with scissors and I left them on his cage, in the morning they were gone. I'm afraid that If I leave it all night it all be gone in the morning and maybe it's too much for him, isn't it?

That amount would be fine to leave in all night Hamsterita, he probably wouldn't eat it all but if he did it would be ok, it's not like they have it too often anyway, I usually start some more seeds off maybe the day before I give them the ones that are grown so time varies but it's still just an occasional treat & a bit of a novelty for them each time.
I would only be concerned about them eating too much if the mix contained herbs or plants like dandelion for example with strong medicinal properties.
