If you google mini terracotta pots you'll find them on amazon, ebay, craft shops etc, I think I got mine from ebay but can't remember for sure now, the terracotta saucers tend to be expensive to buy online but most garden centres should have them.
Probably the easiest thing to start with, cheap too, is the shelled warrior mix, you could also do some sunflower seeds as I guess you'll already have those, they do tend to work better in either the jar or sand but I have managed to get some small ones (in the shell) to grow in fitch in the little pots.
If you have a look at the first post in this thread there are links to mixes to sow there.
Ok thank you so much Cypher. Will let you guys know when I find some pots and things to grow

Looks like your sprouts are off to a good start SKB

JLPrairie there are lots of things you should be able to buy easily enough in the US, things like wheat for sprouting, barley grains, canary seed, millet & other seeds or grains should be easily available, if you can't find them locally have a look at some of the sites that sell seeds for sprouting for human consumption, many ham safe foods will be there.

Have fun growing chesca, let us know how you get on.

I think I'm just gonna go to Poundland and get some cheap plastic pots, then I'll move the plants into something else to give it to Jasper. I did get a nice Hedgehog pot from there which I can use as well. Could I make tiny amount in a hamster food bowl? I have a few spares of those. What about those little glass ramekins? (The kind you get in GU deserts).

I've never seen mini pots in my local garden centre, but I've never looked very hard. I'm not sure when I'm next going there, but it's round the corner from my Dad's house and about 15 mins from my Mum's.

A hamster food bowl would be fine chesca, you'd just have to be careful not to overwater them as they wouldn't dry out as quickly as terracotta & you could get mould growth if it's too wet.
You won't find mini pots in garden centres I don't think, just the small terracotta saucers.

Ok thanks .

Found a pot on the HobbyCraft website, so might buy one later when I go shopping. Here's the link for anyone interested. Not the cheapest, but if I'm only making a few things, it won't break my bank balance (actually it might lol).

For a quick treat try sunflower sprouts

sunflower.jpg

They only take a couple of days & the sprout tip doesn't need to be longer than this.
Mine only get one or two occasionally as a special treat, they get quite enough sunflower seeds already!
If you don't have a sprout jar you can just use a jam jar with a clean piece of cloth & an elastic band or even a piece of kitchen paper over the top!

Soak for about 8 hours or overnight, then just rinse & drain twice a day.

The information on sprouting sunflower seeds is really useful as I tried sprouting sunflower seeds the other day but they didn't sprout and went mouldy. So must try this method - although I'm a little confused with the "then just rinse & drain twice a day." Do I need to add more water or just drain off the excess water leftover from rinsing?

Sorry I wasn't very clear SKB, you keep the seeds in the jar, pour fresh water in, give them a gentle swirl around then drain out all of the water, this is easiest in a sprout jar with holes in the lid & the angled bit on the base but with a jam jar you could just lay it on it's side after draining making sure there wasn't any water left inside, the sprouts need to be moist but not in water & they need air circulation too to prevent them going mouldy.
Hope that's a bit clearer.
