Question Water bottle not working??

About a month ago I split my roborovski hamsters up and therefore had to buy separate water bottles. The new one I bought for Hamlet is the 'classic' in the small size. I know it's quite popular- it has an orange lid. This is it just to clarify- http://www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pe...e-water-bottle
Hamlet doesn't seem to be able to get any water out of it and I don't know why? Any tips or ideas would be appreciated.

I've always found the classic bottles the most reliable & not had problems, what makes you think Hamlet isn't getting any water out?
It can be hard to tell if they are getting any or not but as long as the bottle works ok he should manage.
Does the water come out when you rub a finger over the spout?
I always give mine a good shake after filling to make sure the water is flowing properly.
How about the height of the bottle? Can he reach it without having to stretch if it's too high or drink in an uncomfortable position if it's too low.

If you only have one bottle each it's always worth keeping at least one spare each just in case something does go wrong.

Like cypher asked, what exactly is he doing that makes you think he can't get any water? I for a while when I got my first ham, thought her bottle wasn't working as very little water was missing, but as time went on I realized she couldn't be alive without drinking and put my worries to rest. Have you tried pressing the spout to see if any water is coming out? If not, give him cucumber or a very shallow bowl of water to get liquids from until you can purchase him a new bottle

He can definitley reach it but ill try shaking it. I thought it might be blocked or something? I think ill get him the water bottle that my other hamster has. When i press my finger over the bottle nothing comes out, thats what made me think he wasnt getting any, or enough water

It does sound as though you may have a faulty bottle possibly although it's rare with the classic bottles I guess the ball thingy could get stuck in any bottle.
If it still doesn't work after a good shake & running it over your finger or the back of your hand to test it then there's definitely something wrong with it.

Sometimes the ball gets stiff - I've had problems with various water bottles. If the water isn't coming out you need to change it asap and meanwhile put a little saucer or shallow dish of water out so your hammy doesn't go without water. It needs to be very shallow so they're not likely to fall in it and get wet or worse. But it can still hold a reasonable amount widthways so they can lick at it from the edge.

I settled on these bottles and used to keep two in the cage all the time in case one stopped working.

If you get two now you only pay one set of postage plus you can have a spare or have two in the cage. I've never had any problems with them letting out water plus they are easy to use as have a clip that attaches inside the cage and the bottle just clips into it, so easy to take in and out. I get them from Porton because there aren't many places stock them and the price is cheaper than Amazon. They usually deliver within 1 or 2 days. The 75ml mouse sized one is a good size for a hamster.

Fpi 4660 Drinky75 Drinky B.

When filling the bottle, (current one as well) don't fill it right to the top. Fill it about 3/4 full. An air gap at the top seems to help the water flow better.

With your current bottle you could try this now and also try unfastening the screw top a little bit at a time (ie looser) until water starts to come out. Too far and the bottle will just drip and all the water run out quite quickly. But it might get it working temporarily. If the metal ball in the spout is stuck or gone stiff that might not make a lot of difference. I would definitely replace it asap though - they can die of dehydration.
