Millet is good It can be found in the bird section of pet stores, whether you're in chain pet stores or not.I know that some of the Tiny Friends Farms treats can be safe but wouldn't be good fed more than a few times a week, but I'd have to get back on exact ones as I will have as many as possible probably around Wednesday.

Stay away from most pet store treats though if you're looking for something to be healthy,as the majority haven't got health benefits and are loaded with sugar and artificial colors and such.

Some hammies like meal worms, can buy them dried. Papaya treats are also a favorite but I wouldn't feel that to a hybrid dwarf. Robos love papaya treats. If you have Chinese or hybrids, depending on the ham they also like dried crickets.

My dwarf hams seem to like millet but not my Syrians. And I think it's quite high in fat so just be careful of that, but then that's true of a lot of things you can give as treats such as sunflower seeds and mealworms so moderation is the key. Meal worms seem popular with mine as are sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds. If you're worried about over feeding fatty treats you can sometimes pick out their favourite bits from their food bowl to feed them by hand. Be aware that quite a lot of pet shop treats are very sugary such as the yoghurt drops, which I wouldn't feed. I've found some more natural based ones that don't appear to have added sugar, that I think have been by Rosewood Naturals? Like carrot based ones. But some of theirs do and some don't so you do need to check the ingredients for individual products. Not sure what brands you get in the US though.

We can get Rosewood products from Viovet and a few other places,so that is one option.Certain Oxbow and Higgins products can be good, but that depends on species and what individual hamsters enjoy.

A good tip I can give on Rosewood products is that Rat Rations usually have the ingredients list for most products, while Viovet does not.
