Question Mealworms

Squidge absolutely loves mealworms, but I'm just wondering how many I should actually give him? Also, is it okay if they are dried? That's what I've been giving him and he seems to be okay?

Dried mealworms are absolutely fine for hamsters! They are much better for those who do not want to be chopping heads off of live mealworms (AKA me). I get about 100g from Poundland and that works well for me.

As for quantity, I think Cypher should answer that. Cypher really is an expert on hamster nutrition.

I got mine from Poundland as well! And I agree, I can't really imagine anything much worse than chopping up live mealworms... Ewww

I actually don't know that much about quantities for syrians, not something I've really needed to know so I'm not sure.
They are a good treat & good for an extra protein boost but very fatty so not too many, I wouldn't give more than two or three a day tbh but syrian owners may suggest more are ok.

Thanks for the advice I've giving him more than two or three a day so I'll probably cut down a bit

I gave a live mealworm to one of my mice once. Never again. Ate it all apart from the head, which still had a few legs attached as well. It kept moving. For ages. I almost threw up.
