I bought a bag of them sometime last year I think and they are still good until 2018. As long as they don't get wet they are a bit like canned food lol

You could wrap all his presents in hammy safe wrapping paper. Also a card would be appropriate I think.

Just letting everyone know I just asked my vet today about giving my syrian whimzees and she said i shouldnt because whimzees as well as greenies impact hamster's cheek pouches.
I was leaning strongly towards getting whimzees for my syrian Chapo but i rather not put his beautiful cheeks at risk. Oxbow hay tunnels and Apple wood chews are the options the vet gave me so i will stick to those.

Mine like Whimzees best - they like Greenies too, but they don't get eaten so quickly and they're quite soft in comparison, so I don't really give them very much as I feel they aren't going to do much for their teeth.

Greenies have gelatin,so it would make sense they won't be doing as much as Whimzees which are fairly stiff.Gelatin makes them flexible and soft instead of the hard and fairly rigid nature of Whimzees.

I've never heard of whimzees or greenies impacting pouches, it usually soft mushy foods that cause pouch problems so I'd be more worried about them pouching something like their porridge than a bit of whimzee!
I don't really see it happening as they chew little bits off & I would imagine mostly swallow that as they chew rather than pouching it to hoard.
I've used Whimzees with all my hams & my Chinese have greenies very ocassionally which they prefer (probably because they're sweeter!).
Apple wood is fine but none of my hams have ever shown the remotest interest in chewing natural wood & hay tunnels you need to check over for any sharp bits that could damage pouches, I'd put them in the freezer before use too.

Maybe I have a very odd hamster, but my Syrian female loves to chew on wood. She is a bit of an odd ham though,so I wouldn't be surprised if that isn't common!

Rupert loved to chew wood too, he was the only ham I've ever had that actually used those little wooden fruity chews and willow sticks!

Sometimes I have to hold the wood for her to notice it,so that might be worth trying for hamsters that aren't too nervous of humans.
