Re: Poorly Pikachu, rapid weight loss.
I'm so sorry about pikachu. Please don't blame yourself, you did everything you could for your gorgeous little girl. I'm glad she passed away in your hands, it will have been a comfort to her. I know how devasted you are, I still get upset about Twinkle.
We know from reading this thread that you did everything you could to help her and that you loved her so much. She's at peace and pain free now.
Thinking of you and sending you big hugs xxx

Re: Poorly Pikachu, rapid weight loss.
So sorry to hear about little Pikachu, you have nothing to be blamed for you did everything that was humanly possible for her, there is nothing to beat your self up about no matter how bad you feel.
It was her time, at least she passed in your hands where she was most loved..
She is pain free now and having fun where ever she is, I still get very sad when I think about Forrest and look at his last pics before he passed.

Re: Poorly Pikachu, rapid weight loss.
Thank You all for the kind words.
It has meant a lot to me that such wonderful hamster owners think I did a good job, she was my first hamster and was just amazing.
One of the main things I have been beating myself up about is letting her get in to her toilet, but as a few people on the forum and out have now said to me.. I didn't put her in there, I took her out. It's really settled my mind knowing I helped rather than making things worse. I was doing what any pet owner does, kept looking back and thinking how I could have done things differently.. but I had no idea she was passing so I know I did all that I could.
Almost broke my back taking her cages down and cleaning all her toys. I had to do it tonight, it was breaking my heart seeing her little cage without her in it. It was heartbreaking, but at the same time made me realise just how spoiled she was. I have two cages full of toys, a box full of toys and a bin bag full of toys that can no longer be used as they were torn to bits.
I can't believe she has gone. My room feels so empty tonight.

Re: Poorly Pikachu, rapid weight loss.
I know how hard it is to believe they've gone, I still feel like that about the last ham I lost but they never really go, even though it seems so empty & quiet they really do live on in our hearts & I don't think their presence ever leaves us really.
It is a really difficult time but it will get easier & the happy memories will outweigh the grief, try to think of all the good things you gave her & the wonderful life she had with you now.

I'm so sorry. I know how you feel as I blamed myself when my Waldo Pepper died. I kept rethinking my actions but finally realized I loved her & did my best. You obviously really loved your baby & did what you could for her. I hope things get easier for you.

Re: Poorly Pikachu, rapid weight loss.
I'm so sorry to hear about Pikachu. You were a lovely caring nurse with her and she passed peacefully. Play well little girl and run free over the rainbow bridge. Big hugs for you. Sometimes putting the cage and toys away out of sight somewhere can help ease the feelings.

I so agree! Every ham is different, that's why I love them so much.
Grief affects us in different ways, you'll have ups and downs of tears and laughter remembering your beautiful girl. They leave paw prints etched on our hearts, they may be small in size but they have big hearts.
