Question Mixing Foods

hello all,

So Nutmeg is on the Supa hamster harvest by Burgess but I want to mix it with another mix so does anybody recommend a mix for a Campbell's Dwarf Hamster? Perhaps I could mix it with Harry Hamster or something else?? Also I know how to replace food but how do I get it so I can mix it gradually??

Default Re: Mixing Foods

A lot of people mix DHH with the Science Selective hamster pellets. Not only do most hams for some reason love the taste of them but, as long as they are eaten, you know that Nutmeg is getting all her nutrients

You could also buy a bag of Harry Hamster and mix in some of the green & orange pellets as some dwarf hams like the big pellets as well as the small seeds - they are made of wheat a think someone told me

If you want to add more protein then mealworms are ideal - most dwarf hams like them and, although a few are in the DHH, they add to the slightly low protein content (17% I think) of he mix

Fibre is actually decent in that mix (9% I think - recommended is 8-10%) but you could use plain rolled oats if you wanted to add more

Just as something to keep in mind, you don't want to add too much into a ham's food as too much in the way of a specific nutrient could unbalance the nutritional value of the mix
