Linseeds are mucilaginous which means they absorb a lot of water & form a kind of gel so they are used as a kind of bulking agent for humans sometimes, we can't really digest them but hams can, their digestive system is quite different to ours so need to worry, just feed moderate amounts.

Ok thanks Cypher, as I saw some of the side effects and I was a little worried, but I keeping forget hamsters digestive are different to humans. How often do you feed linseeds to your hamsters? As I was thinking a few weekly.

Mine have some in their mix so they have those daily really, probably only 3 or maybe 4 in a days worth of mix, not that I've really counted! They also get a few in their treat mix but how much of that they have varies, some days none some days a good few pinches of seed mix (not all linseed!) , either way it seems to do them nothing but good.

Ok, I have just realised that her supreme science selective pellets have linseeds in them which she eats daily as her wet food so I might give her a few additional ones (3-4) once or twice during the week, as a little treat.

I'm sure she'll love a few extra whole ones.
