Default Ice with peas etc?

It's getting warm very quickly as we all know. One thing that a friend suggested was freezing half an ice cube or so with some peas (and/or sweetcorn for syrians, my two are dwarfs, so peas only) in it for the hamsters to chew at to cool down & get peas...

Wasn't sure about this because water & hamsters doesn't tend to mix well.

We thought that it might work if minimal water was used, taken out before it melted and obviously put in a hamster safe bowl..

Yes/no?

No!
Never put anything frozen in the cage, even frozen veg should be left to defrost before being given. Ice would quickly just turn into an unwanted puddle too.
The easiest thing to cool things down is to put something like a mug or a small tile in the fridge for a while then put that in the cage.

Thanks for that
The above was my concern but my friend wanted more arguments against, I couldn't think of any.
They both have mugs in their cages that get swapped out every so often since I have a set of 4 mugs that I absolutely detest (they'll never know though ) so they get that to cool down in
They never get frozen peas straight from the freezer, they're always defrosted slowly in the fridge during the day then given at night.
