Re: Pasta - Cooked or Not?
I get the little packets of alphabet pasta shapes from Rat Rations and use them as part of their base diet. Rupert will get 2-3 whole ones and Joey 1 crushed one every time I change their food bowls (every three days or so). I never really considered that it might be too much - pasta is only egg and flour so I didn't think it'd be a problem and the crunchiness would help their teeth.
I may cut back to just an occasional treat though

I think that's the problem barley, if they have too much they will eat less of their mix & pasta doesn't contain enough of the nutrients they need.
I'm sure the crunchiness is good for those teeth though!

Yes that's totally true.
I think mine are OK as the pasta shapes make up such a tiny part of their diet on the whole

Re: Pasta - Cooked or Not?
I love feeding my hammies pasta. I always cook it about half way before I give it to them because I always worry about them puncturing their pouches. If you do cook it and give it to them you might want to keep an eye on it as it will dry out again and become hard which will just do the same amount of damage with the pouches!

Re: Pasta - Cooked or Not?
If I were to feed brown pasta, could I just let it soak in boiling water (from the kettle) for 10 mins or so?

Re: Pasta - Cooked or Not?
You could do, not sure what the texture would be like though, you can just give it uncooked as it is.
