Unhappy fresh foods

I just got my second hamster yesterday. hes Syrian and his names Grim. They said not to give him veggies til hes 6 months old but i gave him a thin slice of carrot and apple today. Did i hurt his health in any way?

You can begin feeding fresh food straight away really, just give only tiny pieces & introduce things slowly, not too many new things at once, maybe one thumbnail size piece of a different veg every other day until your ham gets used to it, you find out what he likes & can tell if anything has any adverse effects.
Check to make sure any fresh foods are safe before giving them too.

I usually give one of these (tiny piece as Cypher says) - broccoli, carrot, cauliflower, cucumber, green beans - I try and vary it each day The occasional piece of apple or banana. It's fine! They like fresh food. But the reason the amounts need to be small is too much and it could give them the runs. I find ours only eats what he needs anyway.

From what the others have said, you can also give them Peas, Sweetcorn, Courgette, Blueberry, Strawberry, Pak Choi, Bamboo Shoot again all in small pieces .
Our Pip likes it all except Strawberry her favourite is Banana.
You can also give them Boiled egg white, scrambled egg, cooked chicken, duck avoid processed foods such as ham as it can have a high salt content which isn't good for a Hammy.
Finally, Peanuts in their shells (aka Monkey Nuts)as that is good for them to knaw through, hazlenuts, Walnut, Brazil nut the last two just small pieces though again all unsalted and raw.
