Veggies
I'm not totally sure what I am having for my dinner tonight (everyone else is out! Yay!) but it will include some sort of veggies. Now, we usually only really have frozen veggies as they last longer, and anything else tends to get forgotten about! So, can I just let the frozen veg defrost before giving to Sweep or should I cook them? We currently have broccoli, carrots, peas, corn on the cob, and possibly some microwave bags of mixed veg. Will probably cook broccoli and peas as they are my favorite, but might cook carrots too. Sweep has had peas before, which by the time he got up were cold LOL but he seemed to enjoy them anyway! He has had raw carrot before, but not any of the ones from the freezer. He's never had broccoli. I know some people give raw broccoli and others give cooked, but am wondering if it will be ok if I just defrost it?

Re: Veggies
Defrost and give Sweep some raw. He can also have cooked, but let them cool a bit before feeding, so they are warm not hot.

Re: Veggies
Raw is healthier than cooked you can just let them defrost before you give them.

Re: Veggies
I always steam my veggies. Twinkle was a bit fussy and only ate raw carrot, baby sweetcorn and mangetout. Everything else steamed from frozen. I always let them cool.

My robo loves broccoli. I just rinse the broccoli and give it to her raw

Re: Veggies
Well, he gobbled up the broccoli!! Never seen food disappear so fast! So I think he liked it! He also had 2 peas and a tiny bit of carrot!

Re: Veggies
I would steam them, but only because i would give my hammy a bit of whatever frozen veg we were having for dinner. Raw has more nutrients though.
When you guys give a variety of veg to your hammies in one go, do you make that the bulk of their daily meal or just give bite-sized portions of each? Custard was fed daily veg in the pet store but hasn't really had much at home yet. I don't want him to end up with an upset tummy
