I might go for once or twice a week too. Anything that might help keep them healthy is something I'm willing to try

I take these - Super20 and my dog gets these -http://www.lintbells.com/products/yumpro-bioactiv

Would either be suitable for the hams? If so, how much?

I'm not familiar with either of those barley, they would probably be ok but I prefer to use probiotics that are either for small animals or birds, the dose is similar for birds!
There's the P@H one, I think that may contain a bit too much vitamin C for long term use though, I have used Aves but it is very expensive, now I use Potent brew, I first started using it last year when I was looking for something, anything! to give both Flynt & Mickle a boost & it really did make a difference. The dose is easy to calculate for very small animals too which helps!
