I heard those baby finger biscuits are safe ... Can't remember what they are called but they are made by Heinz. They come in a couple of different flavors - but wouldn't recommend getting them online as they are more expensive online as you have to buy multipacks!

We don't have Gerber products here other than through expensive import-type shops but they sound like some kind of cereal type thing right?

My hamsters will have the odd Cheerio loop (when I am able to get some from my parents as I'm gluten free) and they adore chicken and the odd bit of cheese. Some of mine have also enjoyed a little bit of egg although they'd rather eat the yolk than the white.

You can get them from Amazon, but they are crazy expensive! Looked the other day. I'm gluten free too (And no dairy - except when I am naughty and eat ice-cream!)

They're different fruits, sometimes vegetables, and some cereal type things.Very low sugar though which is awesome for dwarf hams!Of course, being relatively unavailable unless you want to pay a crazy amount isn't very helpful but you should be able to find some other baby foods.

The Gerber puffs are on Amazon here : https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb...s=gerber+puffs and some other things are here https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb...rber+baby+food ... Never heard of them though!

Also found the heinz baby biscuits : https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb...+baby+biscuits But again they are expensive on Amazon but you can get them quite cheaply in most supermarkets!

Wow the UK has got some overpriced baby puffs! They cost around 2.50 dollars US here, which is so much cheaper. One day a US member needs to set up a way to get things into the UK,and I'd do it but I have no idea how it would work out.

A little bit of cooked pasta with some grated cheese on top always goes down well. Also scrambled egg made with just water and allowed to cool is a favourite too, especially with some tiny pieces of orange pepper mixed in.

For hybrids I think you do better with natural treats like millet sprays or monkey nuts, small pieces of other nuts but only tiny amounts & not too often, a few extra sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds in the shell are all very popular.
For chicken I use this one which they love.
Baby food is best kept as either a very rare treat or used mostly for sick or elderly hams.
A little bit of porridge once in a while is fine.
For veg there is so much you can give them, broccoli is good, carrot not so much for hybrids so you could experiment with those & see what they like best.
This is my list if you're unsure what's safe.

Safe veg, those marked * are relatively high in sugar so only feed to diabetes prone species as an occasional treat if at all.
Asparagus (mine have never liked this)
Basil
Broccoli
Brussels sprouts
Common or red clover
Cabbage, green or red
Carrot*
Cauliflower
Celery
Chard
Coriander
Courgette
Cress (not mustard & cress as commonly sold together)
Cucumber
Dandelion leaves & flowers
Endive/chicory
Green beans/runner beans
Kale
Pak choi/Bok choi
Parsley
Peas/mange tout/sugar snap/snow*
Peppers, any colour
Potato/sweet potato cooked only*
Radicchio
Spinach
Squash/pumpkin*
Swede
Sweet corn/baby corn*
Turnip

This is so helpful! Thank you so much. I love giving my hams lots of tasty treats, and letting them try different things will be so much fun.
