Re: What do you feed your hamsters:
Don't cook tofu no, just give it as it is, I use the clearsprings organic one, tried the supermarket variety but no one would touch it!
I keep mine for up to a week in a container of water in the fridge, just rinse & change the water daily.
I have no idea why they like it so much but they do
It's gives them a little protein boost without being too much & is good for hydration too.

Re: What do you feed your hamsters:
I feed 1/2 to 2/3 base mix with the rest of the mix being my own additions.
My current base mix is Mayfield which I've used for a few years. I tried others over the years including Burgess dwarf (a bit too millet heavy for my purposes), Harry (nice but a little too rich with my additions and too many big bits for my hams' liking) and Best Pets (didn't suit my hams in maintaining condition). I wouldn't feed Mayfield without additions though, whereas if I run low on my extra additions I'd feed Harry plain until the delivery arrives.
The extras I use are: mixed millet, dari seeds, hemp seeds, linseed, oats/pinhead oatmeal, kitten kibble, pigeon conditioner and budgie tonic seed. I don't add all of these each time I mix up a batch - it depends on the season and my hams' condition.
As well as the mix, my hams all get dog biscuits and a scatter mix of dried veg. According to need they also get wet cat food, chicken, pasta, rice, mealworms, porridge, boiled hen/quail eggs, tofu, kitten kibble (if not in the mix) and veg. I also make a pick-me-up scatter mix for youngsters, mums just off litters or those who need extra condition which has mealworms, pigeon conditioner, budgie tonic seed, EMP and a few suet pellets.
My Ratrations order arrived this week so I have bags of seeds everywhere!

I don't really know what Tofu is lol. Is it vegetable protein or something? I shall have a look next time I'm in the supermarket.

Re: What do you feed your hamsters:
Tofu is made from soya and is a form of protein popular with vegans. Its soya bean curd. Very bland but nice if marianated (nice for humans not hamsters, marianated would be too salty for them).

Ah that will explain why my other half keeps suggesting we try it - he's virtually vegetarian - I reckon it comes from keeping sheep.

As it has been said,it is made from soy/soya.It's actually quite common for people to not know exactly what tofu is.Being made from soy though I'd feed it only in moderation since it may cause higher chances of cancer in rats or something like that.Definitely a great source of protein though, along with broccoli!

Re: What do you feed your hamsters:
Serendipity I know you like organic produce & aren't a big fan of GM so maybe it would appeal, have a look here.

Re: What do you feed your hamsters:
Thank you Yes I do like to get organic things if I can. I'm less worried about the whole GM thing now as there are various different views on it - but I still like organic things if I can get them and they aren't too expensive.

I think people also forget there are different forms of genetic modification as well! Some are harmful, some aren't.
