I agree about trying veg more than once, it can take them a while to get used to new things so try as much variety within the safe list as you can manage & try a few times before giving up on something new.

Charlie will eat just about any vegetable given! He loves fresh veg - it gets eaten straight away. I tend to give a different one each day - just a tiny piece, say thumbnail size, or about 1cm cubed, whichever is easier to imagine! I give broccoli, cauliflower, carrot, baby corn, green beans - things that are easier to keep in that we eat anyway.

Mostly raw, but sometimes cooked (plain boiled, no salt), as I keep a bit back for him if we've had some ourselves that night. He's a Syrian not a dwarf, but I think most hamsters like veg. Probably not baby corn in your case. And the occasional pea goes down well but he doesn't get those often as I only like giving him fresh ones from the pod! Sometimes he'll get a piece of sugar snap pea or mange tout but I pull the stringy edge bits of first (same with green beans).

Just don't introduce a ton of vegetables at once.Maybe a few different vegetables throughout a period of 3 days, just so you can be sure which food may be causing any stomach problems if they occur and also to avoid stress and things.

I gave my hams some Salmon at christmas and it really did smell the next day. If you do feed them some fish only give them a tiny bit to make sure they eat it all and not store it away.

Raw veggies are healthier. There are certain vitamins that are water soluble, so boiling them in water will most likely remove them from the vegetable. I will make a list of the vegetables that I feed for you I don't give them it all at once though, I alternate between different veggies depending on what I have in at the time. I feed them vegetables every 2-3 days, just to make sure they eat their mix properly to ensure they're getting all the nutrients they need.

Broccoli
Carrot
Celery
Swede
Parsnip
Peas
Cauliflower (leaves too)
Bell pepper
Spinach
Kale
Cabbage
Cucumber
Courgette

I think that's it. Usually they will get some other vegetables if I specially buy it for them. They also sometimes get some dandelion leaves and flowers in the summer, but not often.

Ok, well I knew not to give them at once as I shall give them the vegetables over a period of time slowly increasing it. I will try the vegetables and give her the ones she likes that are low in sugar as of her prone to diabetes and try that on her. Would I be able to mix the vegetables into the mix.

You could, but it's not necessary. It's easier to just get fresh vegetables and prepare them daily rather than risk them going bad by just sitting in with the food container or whatever you keep your food in,if that's what you're talking about.

Did you mean put them in her food bowl? You could, but I tend to put the veg in a different place to the food bowl with the hamster mix, as it gives them something to do - to go and find it! I started putting Charlie's in his sputnik to encourage him to go in there, and now he has a little food routine. He always checks the sputnik first and sits in it to eat the veg, then he checks his lava ledge, where there is usually an 'extra' a bit of cheese, a nut or a healthy hamster treat, and then he goes to his bowl and pouches his hamster mix (or forages for it if I've scatted some).

Think we posted at the same time there! It's ok to put it in the food bowl but might be more fun somewhere else in the cage
